Stephanie Theisen, OVT
Stephanie joined Great Lakes Vision Rehabilitation at Excel in 2020 and has a clinical interest in learning disabilities, head injuries, and strabismus.
My Story
Stephanie is a Michigan native and attended Schoolcraft College and graduated in 2015.
After graduation, she found a job at a vision therapy clinic in Ann Arbor and fell in love with vision. She spent the next two years training under a licensed optometrist before treating patients of her own. During these first few years Stephanie was learning the foundational skills of how the eyes, brain, and body work together.
In 2017 Stephanie joined another vision therapy practice in Ann Arbor. During her time at this clinic her passion and clinical skills grew. She began to learn more about head injuries and learning disabilities, taking several courses with the COVD (College of Optometrist in Vision Developmental) to increase her knowledge and tool set.
Stephanie then relocated to Macomb County in late 2020, where she joined GLVR at Excel. During her time at Excel, Stephanie was selected as the Senior Therapist and is currently working on becoming a Certified Optometric Vision Therapist with the COVD.
Over the past eight years, Stephanie has gained a passion for helping patients reach their vision goals. She enjoys working with children and adults. Stephanie’s favorite thing about being a vision therapist is the ability to make meaningful connections with her patients while helping improve their functional vision.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and friends. She also enjoys learning new recipes, reading, and travelling up north to her family’s cottage.
