Kevin's Story

Kevin was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed medication. However, his mother reported that over time nothing had changed, and she discontinued his medications. His mother was not sure if he truly had ADHD. He was behind in reading and English, which was attributed to his dyslexia. Because he could not read like his peers, he lacked confidence and had poor grades. On the other hand, he excelled in science and math, and was in advanced classes.

Kevin came to our clinic after his outside optometrist diagnosed him with poor eye muscles movement. He had 20/20 vision in both eyes and did not require any glasses. After his initial evaluation and consultation, it started to make more sense to her why he had headaches near, blurred vision and in and out of focus, and car sick.

After going through vision therapy, Kevin began to love school. His confidence improved and his academics followed suit. He even began to enjoy English class and reported it was too easy for him. His other classmates began to seek Kevin out for help in the subjects he once struggled in.

“Thankfully GLVR had a program to help with his visual challenges and visualization work. Kevin enjoyed going to Excel for therapy. I’m so thankful to the people at Excel for making it possible for my son. My only wish is that I came here sooner.”- Kevin’s Mother
